Do you visit Mallorca?

Our government is threatening it.

Help us protect it!

We know that if you visit Mallorca you can share our commitment to preserve its beauty from the destruction of its natural values. GOB is convinced that despite new and serious threats that could ruin the future of Mallorca, we can actually build new real alternative to overcome the current economic crisis, in combination with tourism. This necessarily involves land, culture, environment and heritage conservation, because these are the values that makes us unique. We understand that the current government policy is leading us to failure by making persistent attacks on these values.

You can act and support us, writing this letter to the Balearic Islands Prime Minister, demanding him to change the course of the policies that can undermine our fragile little island and by asking him to create new alternatives to ensure Mallorca’s future.

--- Sr. José Ramón Bauzá, President del Govern de les Illes Balears --- Dear Mr. Bauzá I've been lucky to visit Mallorca and I can say that I am really worried knowing that you are strongly supporting projects that can seriously compromise the wonderful assets that Mallorca has, such as landscape, environment and its unique and immense natural and cultural heritage. The economic crisis or the presumed demand from tourists for more hotel rooms, more services and more attractions are not valuable arguments to destroy this wonderful island. You should try not to repeat your past major errors that have cost the loss of beautiful corners in the islands and that has brought as a result landscape deterioration and biodiversity loss. I can assure you that one of the main reason for why we, as tourists, visit Mallorca, is the exceptional beauty of its scenery. If this is destroyed, Mallorca will lose one of its most important assets as a tourist destination. The alternative exists and necessarily involves biodiversity and natural conservation. Therefore, we will ask you to reverse these policies in order to move towards more sustainable development that will respect natural heritage, land and people. Yours sincerely,
